ABOUT ST. FRANCIS OF THE LAKES
CATHOLIC SCHOOL
St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School -- A school you can place
your faith in. Providing academic excellence, Christian values, and
guided discipline for children in pre-school through 8th grade.
Mission Statement
St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic School, in cooperation with the
family, is committed to challenging students to grow spiritually,
academically and socially within a Catholic centered environment.
Philosophy
The faculty, school administrators, and school advisory board of St.
Francis of the Lakes Catholic School believes:
- That each individual student is a child of God.
- That each child should have the opportunity to grow and reach
their potential, both spiritually and academically, through a sound
academic and disciplined curriculum.
- In a school atmosphere that encourages student participation
while recognizing different learning styles and the uniqueness of
each child.
- In incorporating a God-centered approach to social issues.
- In developing, within the student, independent, value-based
thinking, enabling the student to become an effective decision-maker
throughout his/her life.
In providing opportunities to grow and learn in a prayerful
environment, which brings alive the message of our Catholic
faith-that Christ lived, died, rose again, and now lives and dwells
within each of us. We believe that experiencing this message allows
students at St. Francis Catholic School to develop and maintain
their individual spirituality preparing them for a life of service
to their communities.
MORE THAN EDUCATION
A Foundation For Life
Brainerd children are lucky. After 12 years in any school, most
students read, write, and solve problems better than their
counterparts nationwide. But St. Francis Catholic School goes beyond
simply academics to explore the questions of faith, love and God's
role in our lives. We provide what others can't - the same Christian
values you teach at home.
A Standard Of Academic Excellence
St. Francis Catholic School delivers academic success. Half our
students traditionally go on to become honor graduates from Brainerd
Senior High.
How?
Hard work. Dedicated staff. And a team approach to the learning
process. Parents and teachers - working together - provide the
greatest opportunity for academic success.
Consider our advantage
- Student/teacher ratio: average of 14 to one - so your children receive
the attention they deserve
- A computer center
- Specialist instructors in information technology, music, art,
Spanish, and physical education
- The same curriculum found in the Brainerd public schools
- A staff of state-licensed educators
- A controlled, child-centered learning environment
The result? Children are better prepared for secondary and
post-secondary education. They enjoy learning and value themselves
as students.
CHRISTIAN LOVE
Guidance And Discipline Based in Christian Love
We emphasize the importance of guidance in a young child's life -
the same loving, firm and influential guidance you work so hard to
give your child.
When children test the rules, they are testing how much you care
about them. We understand how much you care, so we set boundaries
for your child. Loving, respectful, boundaries. We teach your
children to respect themselves - and others. They're challenged to
grow within an environment of Christian caring, where nurturing,
guidance, and discipline develop self-control and self-esteem.
Our small class sizes help us avoid discipline problems within the
classroom. And in the end, your children learn that every action has
a consequence, and that every choice is an important one.
Establishing discipline helps them make positive choices in school -
and throughout their lives. |
